Holmesglen Institute
Holmesglen is one of the largest providers of vocational and higher education in Victoria. Since 1982, they have grown from a delivery of 90 courses to 7,000 students, to a unique multi-sectoral provider offering over 530 courses to more than 50,000 students.
They have embarked on a strategic plan for the 2018 to 2020 period – aptly titled Vision 2020. This plan provides an opportunity to refocus the strategy and bring to life ASPIRE values - Ambition, Scholarship, Passion, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.
In setting out this plan, the goal is to excite staff, engage with learners and connect with industry, employer and community stakeholders.
Holmesglen officially opens on the former site of Holmesglen Constructions in Batesford Road, Chadstone. This was originally an old munitions site used during WWII. Here are some points regarding the Institute :
- Growing rapidly, Holmesglen now has more than 11,000 enrolments. This year they also occupy the former Oakleigh Technical School site and open our Conference Centre at our Chadstone campus.
- Holmesglen becomes the first Australian TAFE to be an ELICOS provider. They can now accept fee-paying overseas students!
- Holmesglen opens a site in Glen Waverley – formerly the Victoria State Schools Nursery – and relocates its Oakleigh facilities to this new campus.
- Holmesglen becomes the first Australian educational provider to be registered under ISO 9001.
- An internationally recognised standard, ISO 9001 cements our reputation as a quality service provider that’s focused on continual improvement and consistent results.
- They now have 30,000 enrolments and deliver close to six million contact hours a year.
- Holmesglen acquires the Moorabbin campus of Chisholm Institute of TAFE. This increases our staff numbers by 200 and our enrolments by 15,000.
- They also purchase a 290-hectare property near Eildon with a view to opening a rural learning and conference centre.
- Holmesglen builds two new educational precincts in Moorabbin to cater to increase the enrolments.
- They also build two new educational facilities and a new cafeteria at the Waverley campus.
- Following legislative changes in 2003, Holmesglen develops its suite of higher education programs. They have 15 undergraduate degrees accredited – including a landmark accreditation of a Division 1 Nursing degree.
- Holmesglen opens a modern new conference facility at the Eildon site which includes accommodation for 18 staff and 48 students. This is now known as Holmesglen at Eildon.
- Holmesglen further expands its reach with the opening of the city campus on St Kilda Rd.
- Holmesglen announces new Chief Executive Mary Faraone, who takes over from our founding and long-standing Chief Executive, Bruce Mackenzie.
- This year they also open the Youth Foyer at our Waverley campus to help young homeless people.
- Holmesglen builds on its long-standing partnership with Charles Sturt University (CSU). This year, 40 students begin their CSU Bachelor of Oral Health in a new six-storey building on Warrigal Rd, Chadstone.
- Futuretech opens – a collaborative venture between Holmesglen and the Electrical Trades Union (ETU) Victorian Branch.
- Located in North Melbourne, Futuretech is an education and training facility designed to upskill electrical professionals to meet the current and future demands of the industry.

- Holmesglen's success in international education has been celebrated at the 2016 Victorian International Education Awards.
- The Institute was honoured with both a provider and Premier's award – 'Excellence in International Education – TAFE and International Education Provider of the Year' – reflecting Holmesglen's outstanding achievements and excellence in international education across all sectors.
- Holmesglen's reputation for innovative teaching and learning was further enhanced by the presentation of the 'International Student of the Year – Vocational Education & Training (VET)' award to Freddy Mata Mendoza.
- Currently enrolled in Holmesglen's Diploma of Furniture Design and Technology, Freddy came to Melbourne from Venezuela. During his time with Holmesglen, Freddy has achieved a number of awards, including winning the People's Choice prize at the 2016 Australian Contemporary Emerging Design Awards.

Campus Information
Bourke Street
Enter 206 Bourke St (look for the Holmesglen School of Nursing sign on Bourke St) • About half-way along the building, you will see lifts on the right-hand side, near the atms • Take the lift to Level 3.
Chadstone
Opened in 1982, Chadstone is our original campus – as well as our largest and most populated. With a huge range of learning options, superior facilities, cafes, bars, shops and transport options, it’s no wonder Chadstone attracts thousands of learners every year
Drummond Street
Located on three hectares of land, the campus is located 1.5kms from Holmesglen’s main Chadstone campus. Certified by the Green Building Council of Australia’s Green Star project, the site has three buildings with a 5 Star Green rating.
Moorabbin
In the heart of bayside Melbourne, our Moorabbin campus is a hub of energy and activity. Providing vocational education and training to over 10,000 learners a year, this spacious and modern campus recently has undergone extensive refurbishment and expansion.
Glen Waverley
With leafy, open spaces and a vibrant atmosphere, our Glen Waverley campus boasts new buildings and modern facilities. It’s the ideal learning environment for people seeking hands-on preparation for employment in the real world.
Eildon
