Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building)
This course can be undertaken full time, part time, or online, or a mixture of all three so you can fit your study around your work and personal life commitments.
Upon completion, students can expect to have the knowledge and skills required of a builder, site manager, foreman or construction manager on a residential project or low rise commercial project.

This qualification will give you the knowledge of building structures under the National Construction Code (NCC), the legislation that accompanies any building project. It may also assist you to meet the requirements of the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) to become a registered building practitioner in Victoria.
You will also learn safety, contracts, structural principles and materials, estimating and quality management
The strength of the program lies in its flexibility to adapt content to cover residential, industrial and commercial low rise construction with special attention to current industry practices and processes.

While the course has been designed to be completed in two years, there is flexibility to study at your own pace and complete the course earlier.
The online course has been developed with busy people in mind. Our unique, flexible method of teaching combines off campus study via online course material, with a drop in campus based tutorial program at our convenient City campus location.
The online components have been divided into four stages, which in general are required to be completed sequentially.
Online resources for delivering distance education and a tutor for each unit of enrolment will be provided. We also provide support and references to learning tools to help you through the course.
All learning and assessment resources will be provided to the student through the Holmesglen Learning management System (Brightspace), enabling the teacher to facilitate the delivery of the units to either individual learners or small groups of learners. As a result, this will ensure that the learning style of the learner is accommodated and progress is structured to the learners skill, knowledge and understanding of the units they are completing.
