Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching

Our students learn through a combination of on-campus theory and well supported practicum experiences. Students attend practicum within every semester of the course and across a range of early childhood education areas including pre-schools/kindergartens and primary schools.

Lecturers teaching in the Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching have significant and extensive experience across a range of early childhood and primary settings, and extensive higher education teaching expertise.

The Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching prepares students as specialists in the teaching of children from birth to 12 years. Graduates will be qualified to teach in primary schools and in early childhood settings, and will be eligible to apply for Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration. Holmesglen requires all students to have completed the CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent, prior to enrolling in this bachelor degree.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Holmesglen requires all students to have completed the CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent, prior to enrolling in this bachelor degree.

All applicants must meet the English and Mathematics prerequisites:

An applicant may be admitted to the course if they have the following:

Numeracy
Good passes at Year 12 / Matriculation including Mathematics or the overseas equivalent
(eg. A Level). Applicants without the Mathematics subject prerequisites are required to complete the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) Multiple Choice test in Numeracy and achieve a median score of 150 to meet the course numeracy entry requirement. *

*Applicants will be required to complete the STAT prior to entry if they do not meet the Mathematics prerequisites, as above.
