Reception and Housekeeping Services within the Hotel Industry

Creating the Guest Experience
Explore all the elements of customer service, looking at standards across different hospitality businesses and expectations and the variety of guests needs. Also look at different methods employed by hotels to create the perfect guest experience. This module includes an optional international study tour which is self funded, where you will be visiting, experiencing and comparing customer service standards offered in a range of hotel and hospitality operations in Australia.

Produce a Business Plan for a Food and Beverage Operation
Develop a business plan, finding a location, choosing the products, sourcing items, staffing requirements, menu’s, pricing, budgets and a marketing plan. This module includes Unit 4646 and 16705 which are needed to operate as a Bar Manager

PSW Opportunity

  • During study, all students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time during vacations.
  • After completing Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Qualification, a student will get a three years open post-study work visa.
  • After completing Level 8 Post Graduate courses of 1 year, students get 1 year PSW.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Level 3, 4 and 5 Entry Requirements. You must meet the following minimum requirements:

18 years of age on day 1 of your course
4 years of secondary school or equivalent work experience
Level 5 - Academic score of 5.5 with a band score no lower than 5 (or NZQA equivalent).
Level 4 - General or Academic score of 5.5 and no band score lower than 5 (or NZQA equivalent).
Level 3 - General or Academic score of 5 with no band score lower than 5 (or NZQA equivalent).
Level 6 Entry Requirements:

The learner has successfully completed a programme at NZQF Level 5 or Equivalent
IELTS of 6 Academic with no band below 5.5 or NZQA (or NZQA equivalent).

Passed an NZQA approved internal English test (including NSIA and Campbell Institute) with 5.5 IELTS overall. From 24 October 2015 this is only applicable for students from markets with 80 percent or over visa approval. For Immigration NZ visa approval rates click here.

i. IELTS: Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5
ii. TOEFL Paper-based Test (pBT) where the test was carried out prior to 1 October 2017: Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE)
iii. TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14)
iv. Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First or B2 First for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill
v. OET: Minimum of Grade C or 200 in all sub-tests
vi. NZCEL: Level 4 (General) or (Employment)
vii. Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36
viii. LanguageCert: B2 Communicator IESOL (LRWS) with HIGH PASS and no less than Pass in each skill
ix. Trinity ISE: ISE II with no less than merit in any band
