BA (Hons) Childhood and Society Studies (Top-Up)
BA (Hons) Childhood and Society Studies (Top-Up) is designed for people who want to gain a full undergraduate degree, and are working with children and/or young people.
You will develop a broader understanding of a number of childhood-related topics, and use this to analyse your own practice and the practice of others in childhood settings.
If you have existing experience in early years, you can take the optional pathway in Early Childhood Graduate Practitioner Competencies and graduate with a highly-desirable degree title BA (Hons) Childhood and Society Studies with Early Childhood Graduate Practitioner Competencies, improving your employability.

You will also be eligible to apply for a range of Masters courses (level 7), such as Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), MSc Practice Development, MSc Inequality and Society, MA Social Work and MA Childhood and Youth Studies, which include the option professional qualifying pathways in Early Years or Youth Work.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
To study for a University of Sunderland degree you need to meet the course entry requirements.
If English is not your first language you should have at least one of the following qualification (or equivalent) as a minimum:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Generally, the course requirements will be a minimum score of 6.0, with at least 5.5 or higher in each component: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
Any score above 180.
Cambridge Certification in Advanced English (CAE)
No score lower than 170.
O-Level English Language or GCSE English Language
You need grade C or above (UK Exam board).
Malaysian SPM 119
You need grade 6 or above (only grades 1, 2 or 3 are acceptable for Law).
Degree or HND taught in English for Postgraduate students
Proof of qualification is required.
Trinity Integrated Skills in English (ISE) II
You need Merit or Distinction.
