HUMAN BIOLOGY AND PSYCHOLOGY - BSC (HONS)

On this course, you will integrate understanding of our physiology with the holistic and behavioural approach of psychology. You'll cover a broad range of topics which may include health and disease, social, cognitive and biological psychology and research methods. Human Biology provides a broad understanding of the physiology of the body’s major systems as well as human health and disease and the relationship between the human body with the environment.

You will be challenged with exciting ideas and findings from psychology and human biology. In Psychology, you will deal with social and developmental psychology, cognitive and biological psychology and research methods. You will explore issues that relate to our ever changing lifestyles and will be taught through a multidisciplinary approach that is supported by input from experts in their field. You’ll benefit from a supportive environment as well as fantastic lab facilities and equipment.

The psychology modules on this course are accredited by the British Psychological Society, a necessary first step for many professional careers in psychology, such as clinical, counselling, educational, forensic, occupational or sports psychology, and a prerequisite to becoming a Chartered Psychologist. Human Biology graduates combining with Psychology have pursued diverse careers including industry, genetics research, medical statistics, scientific writing, management and sales. Several Human Biology graduates have gone into Medicine. Alternatively this combination makes excellent preparation for postgraduate study in the subjects of Psychology or Human Biology.

A LEVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • A Level requirement - BBB/ABC
  • To include 1 science subject. Science subjects include: Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Food Science/Technology, Further Maths, Geography, Geology, Human Biology, Maths, Physics, Psychology, Sports Science and Statistics.

If you don't think you'll meet the entry requirements specified, you may be able to gain entry to this course via a Foundation Year.

GCSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Maths at C (or 4) 
  • English at C (or 4)

BTEC

  • BTEC requirements DDM in Science subject
  • BTEC Subsidiary in Applied Science accepted.

  • 30 points to include Higher Level Science at 5 or above

ACCESS TO HE DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS

  • Obtain Access to Higher Education Diploma with 122 UCAS Tariff points including a minimum of 30 Level 3 credits at Distinction. You must also have taken sufficient Science credits, please contact our admissions team for advice.

CISCE / CBSE / West Bengal Class XII: 60% - 90% required depending on course. Plus any subject-specific requirements. 

All other State Boards Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) / Standard Class XII: 65% - 95% required depending on course. Plus any subject-specific requirements. 

2 years of study must have been completed.

English Requirements

CISCE/CBSE Class XII: 70% or above in English, depending on course.

All other State Boards Class XII (except Punjab or Mohali School Education Board): 75% or above in English, depending on course.

Must have been completed within the last 5 years.

The study should be taught in English. Otherwise, IELTS is required.
