BACHELOR OF ARTS in HISTORY

What to Expect in the History Program
The History program isn’t about memorizing dates and taking tests—it teaches you how to think logically and analyze in order to form your own opinions. You’ll explore original texts and speeches from the past in seminar-style classes to facilitate an open learning environment. You’ll develop the essential qualities to prepare you to be a leader in your own right, whether you choose a career in business, law, or higher education.

History Program Benefits
The many benefits of the History program at Ashland University include:

  • Study primary sources instead of textbooks for a relevant educational experience
  • Learn in a conversational classroom with small seminars instead of lectures
  • Experience personalized attention from experts in their field who mentor you in the classroom and beyond
  • Travel abroad with your professors in an annual historical trip
  • Gain first hand experience with internships that often lead to career opportunities
  • Access the great political minds of today through presentations sponsored by the Ashbrook Center
  • Prepare for graduate school by writing a senior thesis under the guidance of your faculty advisor

By the time you graduate, you’ll be able to think, read, write, and speak on important topics in a way that’s worthy of graduate school. You’ll also be well-equipped to take on any educational or career challenge that lies ahead.
