Job Opportunity Potential
Graduates from this programme will have opportunities for employment within The BA (Hons) Education Studies develops skills that are particularly useful for students who intend to build a career working with young children. While this is likely to mean employment in primary schools, it can also include nursery and other pre and after-school settings.
Many of our recent graduates have started their careers in; teaching (PGCE), education practice, nurseries, youth work and educational publishing for example. We also offer a range of postgraduate opportunities, including an Education Studies MA.
You can choose to study for a PGCE in your other subject at school or college level. While the majority of our students choose to follow a career in teaching, the degree opens up opportunities to work in a number of wider educational environments, including youth and community work, local authority employment, social and educational research and early years settings.

Entry criteria
GCSEs
- Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language or English Literature
Plus one of the following:
A levels
- A minimum of 120 points from at least two A levels
BTEC
- BTEC National Diploma - Distinction/Distinction/Merit
- BTEC Extended Diploma - Distinction/Distinction/Merit
International Baccalaureate
- 28+ points
Access course
- Pass in QAA accredited Access to HE with 30 Level 3 credits at Merit. We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course

- Clear communication skills, including good grammar and spelling
- Information relevant to the course applied for
- Interest in the course demonstrated with explanation and evidence

- Minimum of 65% average in your four best subjects (excluding Hindi) in Standard 12. We may also check your standard 10 results in English and Maths.
- For Engineering courses, you will need a minimum of 60% in Maths.
