Doctoral of Science and Technology

In general, the purpose of doctoral education at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Airlangga University (hereinafter referred to as FST-UA) is to produce a new concept in the field of interest of expertise, regardless of morality. The areas of interest of S3 expertise developed in FST-UA are four namely Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. These four areas of interest in expertise are hereinafter referred to as Study Interests. Each learner can choose a more specialized expertise that is Concentration Study.
The doctoral education process in the MIPA Master's Program is designed as a combination of lectures and independent and structured research and is designed to be completed within three years. Lectures are aimed at giving basic philosophy and theory to become a doctor who has the ability to develop his scientific concepts. In each area of ??interest, learners can focus more on the concentration of a particular study.

MISSION OF THE STUDY PROGRAM

1) Organizing an academic education program in the field of MIPA and educating someone to become a scientist. 2) Produce scientists who master the field of MIPA professionally through scientific findings 3) Encouraging the success of learners contributes to the development of MIPA through innovative thinking, as well as responsive and adaptive to phenomenal changes.

The curriculum of the MIPA PhD Study Program, FST, UNAIR is structured for a three-year study period, with a minimum study load of 46 credits. The learning process basically includes two methods of lectures and research that the results should be published. To achieve a doctoral degree every learner must take a particular course and conduct research to write a scientific paper called a dissertation. Each course taken aimed at achieving the competence of graduates. In this MIPA S3 curriculum there are three elements of competence that are main, special and, supporters. Being based on the type of competence offered courses can be divided into three groups and one MKPD namely:

1) Course of Working Behavior (MPB)
2) Scientific and Skill Course (MKK)
3) Expertise Course (MKB)
4) Dissertation Support Course (MKPD)

Based on the structure of the curriculum there are subjects that must be taken by all learners and some are not. Subjects to be taken by learners are called compulsory courses, their status must be taken; while those that do not have to be taken are called elective courses, their status can be taken when necessary, including when necessary to support the preparation of the dissertation (MKPD). The following will explain the status and nature of each course based on competence.

1. MULTIPLE LANGUAGE
The compulsory course is the course that should be taken by all learners who follow the same concentration of study.

2. COURSE OPTIONS
Elective courses are courses that are followed only when necessary, either to support their research, the preparation of a dissertation, or to strengthen the foundation of the course.

3. CULTURE SUBJECT OF DISSERTATION (MKPD)
Dissertation Supporting Course (MKPD) is the required course by Doctor Candidate for in depth study of the dissertation being researched and used to identify, analyze and solve the problem under study for Dissertation.

4. COLLEGE OF STUDY OF BEHAVIOR BEHAVIOR (MPB)
The Behavioral Study Course (MPB) is a group of study materials and lessons, which aims to shape the attitudes and behaviors required by a person in the work according to the level of expertise, based on knowledge and skills mastered.

5. CURRENT LICENSES AND SKILLS (MKK)
Scientific and Skill Course (MKK) is a group of study materials and lessons aimed primarily to provide the foundation of mastery of science and skills mastered.

6. CURRENCY SKILLS (MKB)
The Master of Expertise Course (MKB) is a group of study materials and lessons, which aims to produce experts with workmanship based on knowledge and skills mastered.
