Master of Laws (International Law and Politics)

The specialist Master of Laws (International Law and Politics) is a degree designed for students who have a basic knowledge of Law and wish to develop their specialist knowledge in international law and politics.

Students take courses in international law and international politics plus a dissertation. Courses are delivered through UC's School of Law | Te Kure Ture and the School of Language, Social and Political Sciences.

The degree prepares students for careers in the diplomatic service, specialised legal practice, government, international organisations, non-governmental organisations, and the military.

PSW Opportunity

  • During study, all students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time during vacations.
  • After completing Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Qualification, a student will get a three years open post-study work visa.
  • After completing Level 8 Post Graduate courses of 1 year, students get 1 year PSW.

Academic entry requirements

Students must have qualified for a Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) with a minimum B Grade Point Average, or be admitted Ad Eundem Statum (with equivalent standing). Relevance and standard of undergraduate studies will be criteria for approval.
