Research Principles, Planning and Practice Training Scheme

This programme is all about working on your current research to build practical research skills that will make your research life easier and more effective.

This course runs for 4 months and consists of a 2-hour introduction workshop (in person or online), followed by one-on-ones with a Research Professor (in person or online).

Research professors will be actively mentoring you to develop and frame your research project, review the field, create a robust research plan and publish your research.

The benefits for you:

  • These courses can potentially cross-credit to the Graduate Diploma in Tertiary Teaching and Learning and so are hugely beneficial for promotion and progression
  • You will be mentored and given the practical skills to produce and submit a short manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal.

There are two research training schemes, each training scheme have separate fees:

  • Research Principles, Planning and Practice
  • Preparing Research for Publication Training Scheme.

PSW Opportunity

  • During study, all students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time during vacations.
  • After completing Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Qualification, a student will get a three years open post-study work visa.
  • After completing Level 8 Post Graduate courses of 1 year, students get 1 year PSW.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Academic requirements
• An undergraduate degree from a New Zealand tertiary institution accredited to offer qualifications at this level;
OR
• An undergraduate degree from an overseas tertiary institution, deemed by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority to be of equivalent standing.
OR
• An advanced level diploma qualification from an overseas tertiary institution, deemed by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority to be of equivalent standing.
