Bachelor's Degree and Doctor of Psychology in School Psychology (Psy.D.)

A dual admission program is available to students who are interested in pursuing a career in psychology. Successful completion of this program leads to a Bachelor's degree and either a master’s degree in mental health counseling (M.S.), a specialist’s degree in school psychology (Psy.S), a doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) or a doctorate of philosophy in psychology (Ph.D.).

Students will complete their undergraduate degree and continue their graduate studies at NSU's College of Psychology. Both doctoral degrees satisfy educational requirements for the practice of clinical psychology. The doctor of philosophy program also provides preparation for academic and research activities. The mental health counseling program provides education and training for those who will seek employment in such diverse settings as social service agencies, mental health clinics, hospitals, personnel offices, or schools. The school psychology program provides education and training to students preparing to become school psychologists.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Students who have completed CXC or O-level certificates, HSC, BGCSE and CAPE must provide five passing scores in academic subjects and proof of secondary school completion. Transfer students must submit transfer evaluations from NACES-accredited organization.

NSU UNDERGRADUATE REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM :

  • Any bachelor's degree, prescribed program prerequisites will be communicated upon admission.
  • GRE = Verbal-155; Quantitative-145; and, Analytical Writing-4.0
