Optometry Dual Admissions Program (The Doctor of Optometry)

The doctor of optometry is a seven-year or eight-year program. The seven-year program is a combined program; students will follow a three-year prescribed course of study in the undergraduate major. A bachelor's degree will be awarded to the student after successful completion of the first year of professional education at the College of Optometry. In the eight-year program, students complete the four-year undergraduate major and are awarded a bachelor's degree before starting the dental medicine program. Students in both programs will receive the O.D. degree after four years of training at the College of Optometry. Requires students to apply through Shark Preview Premier Program application and online interview is required.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Students who have completed CXC or O-level certificates, HSC, BGCSE and CAPE must provide five passing scores in academic subjects and proof of secondary school completion. Transfer students must submit transfer evaluations from NACES-accredited organization.
