Law and Economics BA (Hons)
The Law and Economics Joint Honours BA (Hons) at DMU will equip you with a broad knowledge of the main features, concepts, and principles of the UK and EU legal systems, along with developing your understanding of the business environment and how economic policy is formulated in the context of contemporary economic events.
The Law and Economics Joint Honours is not a qualifying law degree and do not exempt you from the academic stage of legal training for the Law Society and Bar Council. However, at the end of year one, it may be possible to transfer to the Law LLB, which is a qualifying law degree course.

Job Opportunity Potential
Many graduates go into the legal profession, typically as solicitors but the career opportunities for joint law graduates are very wide.
Recent graduates from the joint law courses have secured graduate training with the Royal Bank of Scotland, Deloitte, Bloomberg and the multi-national Kerry Foods. Others aiming for the legal profession secured training contracts with a range of law firms including the international commercial firm, Eversheds Sutherland.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Entry criteria
- A typical offer is 104 UCAS points. You need to study at least two subjects at A Level or equivalent (eg BTEC)
- Five GCSEs at grades A–C including English Language and Maths
- Pass Access with 30 Level 3 credits at Merit (or equivalent)
- English (Language or Literature) and Maths GCSE required as separate qualifications at grade C
- We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course
- International Baccalaureate: 24+ Points
India
- Minimum of 65% average in your four best subjects (excluding Hindi) in Standard 12. We may also check your standard 10 results in English and Maths.
- For Engineering courses, you will need a minimum of 60% in Maths.
2nd year - 3rd-year Undergraduate:
- Entry to year 2 or 3 may be possible. You will need to supply detailed information including courses taken, grades achieved, syllabus, and a grading guide.
Sri Lanka
- 55-65% in three A-levels, depending on the course you choose.
