Master of Engineering (Electrical Engineering)

The UNSW Master of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) is a two-year postgraduate degree in the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications. Designed for students with a Bachelor of Engineering, you’ll gain accreditation for a career in the future of the electrical engineering industries.  

You’ll explore a broad range of areas that will support your success as an engineering graduate, including:

The Master of Engineering includes an integrated 60 days industrial training component and courses to develop your technical knowledge and skills in engineering management, analysis and design to ensure you graduate career-ready and accredited.

PSW Opportunity

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

  • Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
  • Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
  • Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
  • The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

  • Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
  • Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
  • Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
  • PhD students can stay upto 4 years.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Postgraduate Coursework Degrees

Master of Engineering
Entry is open to students with a three or four year Bachelor of Engineering degree in a related discipline with a minimum 65% average.
(Applicants who hold a three year Engineering Science degree at least equivalent to the first three years of a related Engineering degree accredited under the Washington Accord may be considered also.)

Master of Engineering Science
Students need a recognized four year Bachelor of Engineering degree or a UNSW Graduate Diploma in a related discipline of engineering with a minimum 65% average*.

Master of Information Technology 

  • a three-year undergraduate degree equivalent to a standard Australian bachelor degree in a discipline containing mathematics up to year two-level, and an average mark of 65% average OR
  • completion of the 7543 UNSW Graduate Certificate in Computing, and an average mark of 70% average OR
  • completion of the 5543 UNSW Graduate Diploma in Information Technology, and a minimum 65% average.
