UNSW Master of Engineering Science (Robotics) is a 2-year full-time postgraduate degree for students wanting to explore and specialise in the growing field of Robotics and automation. The degree is designed for students with a background in engineering and a recognised undergraduate degree to provide a foundation for continued learning.  

The Master of Robotics offers unique opportunities to combine a range of essential elements from a number of disciplines to develop modern day robotics and autonomous systems – and change the world for the better. In this degree, you’ll develop the knowledge, tools and strategies to design and develop state-of-the art-robotic systems that answer human challenges.

This degree offers core disciplinary knowledge, advanced disciplinary knowledge and an advanced research component in the field of Robotics. It’s a comprehensive postgraduate study option for professional Mechanical/Electrical engineers or Computer Scientists wishing to upgrade their skills or extend their knowledge.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Postgraduate Coursework Degrees

Master of Engineering
Entry is open to students with a three or four year Bachelor of Engineering degree in a related discipline with a minimum 65% average.
(Applicants who hold a three year Engineering Science degree at least equivalent to the first three years of a related Engineering degree accredited under the Washington Accord may be considered also.)

Master of Engineering Science
Students need a recognized four year Bachelor of Engineering degree or a UNSW Graduate Diploma in a related discipline of engineering with a minimum 65% average*.

Master of Information Technology 

  • a three-year undergraduate degree equivalent to a standard Australian bachelor degree in a discipline containing mathematics up to year two-level, and an average mark of 65% average OR
  • completion of the 7543 UNSW Graduate Certificate in Computing, and an average mark of 70% average OR
  • completion of the 5543 UNSW Graduate Diploma in Information Technology, and a minimum 65% average.
