International Human Resource Management MSc by Research
This is a potential research degree area, subject to the approval of the University. If you are interested in undertaking a research degree in this area, please make contact with the Dean to discuss your proposal.
This research area covers the theoretical underpinnings and the practical implications of international approaches, models and regulations of managing people in a global context. Topics include the analysis of the relationship between national culture, organisational behaviour and management practice; the comparative analysis of the main policies and practices by which international organisations, mainly multinational companies (MNCs), manage their human resources in different countries; and the evaluation of contemporary issues and the future directions of international HRM, their implications and ways of dealing with them in an international labour market. It also includes topics that are related to international recruitment and selection; international training and development; international rewards and remuneration; and international employee relations.
A research degree at Abertay is excellent preparation for a career as a researcher and an academic, as well as a diverse range of professions outside of academia, for example, in consultancy work.
