Full-Time Positions (Non-Academic & Academic)

Academic Positions (Part-Time)
Associate Lecturer(s) will be appointed on part-time basis to cater to short-term teaching requirements. After the recruitment process has concluded, the official appointment will take place three (3) to six (6) months prior to the commencement of classes or it will be subject to the availability of teaching classes.

Applicants must possess a recognised University degree. Any other relevant professional qualifications, industry experience and pedagogical training would be advantageous.

PSW Opportunity

  • The International Students studying in certain institutions in Singapore are allowed to work part time for 16 hours per week as mentioned on the Ministry of Manpower website of Singapore.
  • Students who have studied in the institutions mentioned on the Ministry of Manpower website of Singapore are allowed to apply for a Long Term Visitor Pass.
  • They are allowed to look for a job during this time period.This is for 12 months.If the students get a job during this time period, the employer may sponsor for an Employment pass.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be of age 17 and above and have one of the following academic qualifications:

For Year 1 / Level 4 entry:

A minimum of 2 A levels or equivalent

OR

International Foundation Diploma in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Art awarded by MDIS 

OR

Relevant qualifications awarded by other Private Education Institutions (PEIs) or recognised Higher Education providers in Fashion-and-Textile-related disciplines, (which are deemed by the University to be suitable as pathway programmes for entry onto the Level 4 / Year 1 of the University course) with an entry requirement of 10 years of formal education*

OR

International Foundation Diploma in Fashion Design and Marketing awarded by MDIS

For Year 2 / Level 5 entry:

Relevant Diploma level qualifications awarded by other Private Education Institutions (PEIs) or recognised Higher Education providers in Fashion-and-Textile-related disciplines, (which are deemed by the University to be equivalent to Level 4 / Year 1 of the University course) with an entry requirement of 12 years of formal education* 

OR

MDIS Higher Diploma in Fashion Design and Marketing

OR

Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Fashion-and-Textile-related disciplines

For Year 3 / Level 6 entry:

Relevant polytechnic diplomas in Fashion-and-Textile-related disciplines, (which are deemed by the University to be equivalent to Level 4 / Year 1 AND Level 5 / Year 2 of the University course) with a pass grade*

OR

Relevant overseas polytechnic diplomas in Fashion-and-Textile-related disciplines, (which are deemed by the University to be equivalent to Level 4 / Year 1 AND Level 5 / Year 2 of the University course) with an entry requirement of 10 years of formal education*

OR

Higher National Diploma (HND) in Fashion-and-Textile-related disciplines

OR

Relevant PEI qualification in Fashion-and-Textile-related disciplines (which are deemed by the University to be equivalent to Level 4 / Year 1 AND Level 5 / Year 2 of the University course) with entry requirement of 12 years of formal education

Notes:

Some applicants will be given the option to take bridging modules in order to secure entry into the appropriate level of the programme. The bridging modules could be taken from the International Foundation Diploma in Fashion Design and Marketing awarded by MDIS and/or Level 4 and/or Level 5 of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Fashion and Textile Design programme respectively, depending upon the entry point determined by the university following their Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy.

All applicants are required to submit a portfolio.

For entry to Level 4, if no portfolio is available, applicants will be interviewed to assess their level of creativity, innovation and potential and passion for the subject.
The portfolio submission for entry to Level 5 and Level 6 should demonstrate:
enquiry, research and observations
original idea generation
conceptual development
experimental work
a good level of technical ability
an ability to select and present a range of work to a high standard
 

English Language Requirements

Applicants are required to possess one of the following:

Possess a minimum C6 grade in English at GCE 'O' Level

OR

IELTS score of 6.0 (with no element below 5.5)

OR

TOEFL score of 550

OR

Completed MDIS Professional Certificate in English (PCIE)

OR

Equivalent
