NEW YORK FILM ACADEMY

New York , New York ,United States

12-Week Evening Digital Editing Workshop

The 12-Week Evening Digital Video Editing Workshop follows the same structure and curriculum as the four-week full-time workshop, but was designed to meet the needs of students who have other daytime commitments.

This evening workshop gives students all the necessary skills to edit with the film industry’s leading editing software, Avid Media Composer. In addition to training on Media Composer students are taught multiple theoretical editing approaches.

The workshop meets three evenings each week—Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday—from 7-9:30 p.m. at our New York campus and from 7:15 to 9:45 p.m. in Los Angeles. Some classes may be held on Saturdays.

Over the course of the workshop, students are provided footage in class to edit five varying types of projects. Students will edit: a short dramatic scene, a music video, a short documentary, and a trailer for a major motion picture. The final week of the workshop is dedicated to building a digital reel of all the projects created during the class.

The Academy is an Avid Learning Partner, a distinction that only 75 institutions of higher learning in the country currently hold. Students may opt to take the Avid User Certification exam which can lead to becoming an Avid Certified User.
