Creative Writing - B.A.

In the Creative Writing program at Ashland University, you’ll have numerous opportunities to learn from experienced authors and create works of your own. By the time you graduate, you’ll have a fully developed manuscript. In your senior capstone course, you will work toward creating a polished series of stories, essays, or a chapbook of poems.

You’ll also:

  • Receive personalized attention from professors who are published authors dedicated to helping you succeed.
  • Learn about the publishing process from professors and authors who have experienced it firsthand.
  • Receive invaluable feedback on your personal work from your introductory writing workshops through the evaluation of your senior capstone manuscrip.
  • Meet with published authors who visit the English department as guest speakers (including Pulitzer Prize award winners).
  • Gain rewarding real world experience through internships with Ashland Poetry Press, or the Ashland Master of Fine Arts program.
  • Join the editorial team of the Black Fork Review, a literary journal run by students and featuring student writing.
