Computer Science, B.S. – Network Security

What You’ll Learn

The Computer Science, B.S. with a concentration in Network Security allows you to focus on network infrastructure and network security aspects, preparing you to handle IT security infrastructure challenges for businesses around the world.

You’ll study a variety of topics such as defense-in-depth, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptography, and virtual private networks. You’ll also complete a substantial project that demonstrates the full extent of your technical skills and knowledge, in addition to its economic, societal, and ethical impact.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on funded research projects for the Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, among others alongside faculty at New York Tech’s Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation Center (ETIC). Many students publish their work in recognized journals as part of the Undergraduate Research & Entrepreneurial Program (UREP).

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

First-Year

  • Minimum combined SAT score of 1080 (critical reading and math only), including a minimum score of 550 in math. This program does not require standardized test scores.
  • If you do not meet this requirement, you may be accepted as undeclared/pre-engineering students. You may transfer into this program from undeclared status or from another program within NYIT if you have:
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
    • Completed at least 12 credits of required math, physics, computer science, and engineering with a minimum GPA of 2.3 in these courses.
  • Three years of math.
  • Copies of transcripts of all high school work, including college-level courses. Your mid-year and final grades will be required. All final, official transcripts must be received prior to the start of your first semester.
