Architectural Technology, B.S.A.T.

Develop an understanding of all aspects of a building’s design and architectural technology by exploring new materials and fabrication technologies on your journey toward a professional career in the industry.

What You’ll Learn

With the Architectural Technology, B.S.A.T., your curriculum will encompass architectural design, building technology, environmental systems, and project management using advanced software and tools. You can also opt to further tailor your degree by pursuing a concentration in Construction Management.

During your first two years, you will study the foundations of architectural history and building construction while developing expertise in design analysis, drafting, and 3-D design skills. During your third and fourth years, you will work intensively toward the completion of a capstone project incorporating all aspects of a building’s design and architectural technology.

You’ll gain the critical experience you’ll need to stand out to employers through national and international design workshops, collaborative projects within the community, onsite construction observation, and summer study abroad in canonical cities around the world.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

First-Year Requirements

  • Recommended minimum combined SAT score of 1080 (critical reading and math only) or ACT composite score of 21
  • Three years of math.
  • A portfolio is not required as part of the admissions process.

If you are admitted to this program, you will need to complete a 2-year core curriculum, including the first year AAID sequence. This curriculum includes design studios and architectural history courses, as well as liberal arts courses such as English composition, math, physics, behavioral science, economics, fine arts, and social science. After successful completion of this 2-year core curriculum, you may:

  • Continue with the four-year B.S.A.T. degree.
  • Continue with the four-year B.S.A.T. degree with major concentrations.
  • Continue with the four-year B.S.A.T. degree with minor in another discipline.
  • Apply for admission into the Architecture, B.Arch. degree.
  • Continue with the four-year B.S.A.T. degree and then apply to the Master of Architecture.

Copies of transcripts of all high school work, including college-level courses. Your mid-year and final grades should be summited when available. All final, official transcripts must be received prior to the start of your first semester.
