What You’ll Learn

The ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering, B.S. program prepares you to work in a variety of fields— energy conversion, product design and development, manufacturing, construction, research, and more—through state-of-art technology and insightful experiences.

Your curriculum incorporates many design projects, ensuring you have work-ready competence upon graduation. You’ll gain additional learning experiences from our Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation Center, engineering clubs (ASME, SAE, NSBE), and undergraduate research opportunities alongside faculty members as part of our Undergraduate Research & Entrepreneurial Program (UREP).

You can further tailor your degree by pursuing a concentration in aerospace engineering, which focuses on aircraft and space vehicle design.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

First-Year

  • Minimum combined SAT score of 1080 (critical reading and math only), including a minimum score of 550 in math. This program requires standardized test scores. 
    • If you do not meet this requirement, you may be accepted as undeclared/pre-engineering students. You may transfer into this program from undeclared status or from another program within NYIT if you have:
      • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
      • Completed at least 12 credits of required math, physics, computer science, and engineering with a minimum GPA of 2.3 in these courses.
  • Three years of math.
