University of Northampton

Northampton , England ,United Kingdom

Applied Psychology MSc

The MSc Applied Psychology offers six modules, one of which will help you to build on your prior understanding of Research Methods and to apply your methodological expertise to a Masters-level empirical dissertation.

The modules will consist of both practical and theoretical/critical skills tuition within the field of applied psychology, increasing transferable skills into vocational areas (e.g., educational/work/organizational/social health services, research) as well as providing an academic pathway towards a vocationally based research. This will provide a clear route for both domestic and international students to progress to doctoral research (either academic or clinical).  You will also undertake a professional work-based learning placement to enhance your chances of securing employment after the program has been completed.

As the only University in the UK to be awarded Changemaker status, you will be encouraged to engage in projects that are socially impactful, addressing current emotional wellbeing and performance issues within various settings. Areas included within the Changemaker directive such as mental health issues, the wellbeing of employers, and pupils are explicitly addressed as part of the module contained within the three pathway-specific modules.

Campus Information

Waterside Campus

In the summer of 2018 the University of Northampton moved to the brand-new Waterside Campus. This seven-year project saw a neglected brownfield site transformed into a successful and impressive new campus that facilitated a radical re-engineering of the University in terms of both teaching methodology and governance structures. aterside is a waterfront site of 24 hectares on the edge of the town centre. Its successful completion has turned a derelict site into a leading facility in the higher education sector. The project brief emphasised integration, of the University into the town and local community, and of departments, facilities and teams within the University itself. New pedestrian and road bridges and cycle routes link the site to the town, and public facilities and commercial outlets are part of a Waterside experience which continues beyond the University to local historic buildings and parks.
