Master of Environmental Law

This unique and innovative program involves study across the fields of science and law. You will explore and analyse contemporary issues in climate and environmental law.

Climate and environmental law form one of the law’s most rapidly expanding areas of specialisation. At Sydney Law School, you will find a wide variety of units available in the study of this field.  You can select from a wide range of units of study, including international and comparative environmental law, which focuses on the Asia-Pacific region.
The program is designed to meet the needs of environmental specialists from both Australia and overseas. Non-lawyers working or wishing to work in the environmental field are also welcome to apply to enrol in the program. 

Sydney Law School offers candidates the opportunity to study their chosen areas of specialisation in the format that suits them best. This includes intensive units of study  and the opportunity to take units from other related disciplines. The depth and innovation of the course is complemented by its well-reputed academic staff and visiting lecturers. The course includes an International Faculty which brings experts from various countries to lecture in specialist units.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Available places will be offered to qualified applicants based on merit, according to the following admissions criteria. Admission to candidature for the Master of Environmental Law requires: a) a bachelor's degree with a minimum credit average from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification; or b) a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification; and the applicant provides evidence of two years of relevant professional experience.

TOEFL - IBT score - A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 23 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 25 in Writing

IELTS score - A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 7.0 in each band

TOEFL - PBT score - A minimum result of 592 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing

Pearsons Test of English - A minimum result of 68 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
