Master of Diagnostic Radiography

Work on the frontline of 21st century healthcare. You will learn how to work with a range of innovative imaging technologies including small mobile X-ray machines and larger units such as MRI and CT scanners, as well as sophisticated cardiac units to enable accurate patient diagnosis and treatment.

Learn from expert academics to work closely with radiologists and use a range of modalities to provide images and data for the diagnosis and treatment of injury or disease. You will develop the skills and knowledge to produce and analyse the images and data generated to determine whether diagnostically adequate and appropriate for radiological interpretation. 

Why study this course?

Our Master of Diagnostic Radiography program is assessed for accreditation leading to graduates being eligible for provisional registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board (MRPB).
How will you learn?
The Master of Diagnostic Radiography program is delivered on-campus with a two-year full-time course duration. 
You will learn in our purpose-built laboratories, on-site health clinics and use high-calibre equipment across our dedicated health facilities.
Through a number of clinical research and professional placement opportunities in both public and private sectors, you will learn to combine your theoretical study with the practical capabilities of a professional diagnostic radiographer.

Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) are available for this course for eligible domestic students. This means that your course fees are subsidised by the Australian Government and you pay a student contribution amount (SCA). CSP places are limited in number and are allocated based on academic merit.

Cumberland

Located in Lidcombe, the heart of Sydney’s sprawling greater west, Cumberland campus is home to the Sydney School of Health Sciences. Campus facilities include a large health sciences library, specialized laboratories, health clinics and state-of-the-art sports science education facilities. The Cumberland Student Guild manages all non-academic services on campus, including a food court, bookstore and shopping outlets. The University intends to move the Sydney School of Health Sciences from its current location in Cumberland to new facilities on the Camperdown/Darlington campus in 2021. Health Sciences will be located at the Susan Wakil Health building – find out more about how we are transforming our campuses.

Course opportunities
Business internship for high-achieving students
High-achieving students have the option to undertake an assessable work placement in Australia or overseas, worth six credit points. Places in these units will be offered on a competitive basis and are subject to availability.

Business dissertation for high-achieving students
Students who achieve a weighted average mark (WAM) of 80 percent or higher in at least eight units of study (48 credit points) may apply to complete a 24 credit point research module comprising a supervised research dissertation of 15,000 to 20,000 words. Access to the business dissertation units is subject to an interview and the availability of suitable supervisors.

Sydney Master of Commerce graduates will acquire the skills and knowledge to pursue high-level positions in industry or government, in areas relevant to their specialisations. For example, the degree can prepare you for positions in accounting, marketing or other specialist fields. It also gives you a thorough understanding of commerce for use in many business fields.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply you will need to fulfill the following criteria:

  • a bachelor's degree, master's degree or PhD from an Australian institution or equivalent
  • a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.5 over 7 (credit average). This does not guarantee an offer as the places are limited and offers are made based on academic merit
  • evidence of any other minimum standards specified by the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Prospective students must ensure that they understand the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia's (MRPBA) registration requirements for graduates of this program prior to enrolment. 

English Language Requirements:

  • IELTS score A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
  • TOEFL - IBT score A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
  • Pearsons Test of English A minimum result of 68 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
