This course will provide you with a broad perspective, covering subjects such as principles of marketing, strategic planning, consumer behavior, enterprise, brand and media communications, and market research. It will prepare you to work successfully in the sector whether you wish to set up your own business or join a small or a large enterprise. During this degree, you’ll have the opportunity to study for a professional qualification with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), significantly enhancing your career prospects. In the First Year, students are given the opportunity to become Affiliate Members of CIM and study for a first CIM award.
Work placement
As part of our enterprise focus, we give you many options to gain work experience. You can undertake internships during the summer, engage in multiple work shadowing opportunities, and take on a yearlong placement between your second and third year. Our students completed placements with a wide variety of commercial and industrial companies, such as Walt Disney, IBM, Porsche, Toyota, BMW, Body Shop, Rent-a-car Enterprise, House of Commons, Hugo Boss.
The course is taught by a range of staff with relevant expertise and knowledge appropriate to the content of the modules taught. Senior academic staff, qualified professional practitioners, and researchers enhance module content with relevant up to date trends.
Campus Information
College Lane Campus
The main site of the university remains the College Lane campus, which houses the original Hatfield Technical College building. Notable among the buildings in this campus is the university's Learning Resource Centre, a combined library and computer centre. There is also a substantial collection of halls of residence and student houses, and the University of Hertfordshire Students' Union is headquartered at College Lane campus. The College Lane campus is also the location of Hertfordshire International College, which is part of the Navitas group, providing a direct pathway for international students to the University.

Graduates have found employment in fields such as marketing, sales, advertising, marketing agencies, market research, merchandising and B2B marketing. Our graduates can leave with key employability, enterprise and strong interpersonal skills. The average salary six months after graduating is £20,000 rising to an average of £26,000 after 40 months. 92% of BA(Hons) Marketing graduates are in work or full time study after 6 months.
