BA (Hons) Politics and International Relations
How can we make sense of Brexit and the election of Trump? Should the international community intervene in Syria? Why do gender stereotypes and racial discrimination still determine opportunities in our society?
On the BA in Politics and International Relations, you’ll study the central challenges that politics faces in the 21st century. You’ll develop the skills to understand, analyse, and critically debate the issues and arguments that shape national and international politics today. Our Politics and International Relations degree allows you to take your interest in politics and add the knowledge and training to turn it into a successful career in the world of local and global politics, the media or business.
Study abroad
Study abroad opportunities are available worldwide and in Europe under the Erasmus+ Programme. This is a great opportunity to live in another country and to make new contacts and friendships. It will also allow students to broaden their education and gain new perspectives.
Work placement
The Politics and International Relations programme offers students the chance to undertake an Internship module in year 3.
Our programme offers you the opportunity to add practical experience to your studies in a year-long work placement in an optional sandwich year in year 3.
Campus Information
College Lane Campus
The main site of the university remains the College Lane campus, which houses the original Hatfield Technical College building. Notable among the buildings in this campus is the university's Learning Resource Centre, a combined library and computer centre. There is also a substantial collection of halls of residence and student houses, and the University of Hertfordshire Students' Union is headquartered at College Lane campus. The College Lane campus is also the location of Hertfordshire International College, which is part of the Navitas group, providing a direct pathway for international students to the University.
