GENERAL PHYSICS WITH LABS
The course covers different aspects of physical sciences. Students learn about the field of mechanics, forces;momentum, work and energy;kinematics and dynamics; thermodynamics; fluids;circuits and electricity; electrostatics and (electromagnetic; vibrations; waves and sounds; optics and light; atomic and nuclear phenomena. Upon completion students are able to describe basic mechanical laws that govern the physical world; compare and contrast momentum, energy and force; explain the effects of gravitation; describe fluids and the concept of waves; discuss and solve dynamic problems related to heat and thermodynamics. Students are also able to apply Coulomb’s Law, Ohm’s Law,Faraday’s Law, Kirchhoff’s rules and Lenz’s Law and freely discuss the concepts of current, resistance, capacitance and capacitors. The course teaches radioactivity and its use in life and biological science, health care and medical field. Students learn to solve problems related to atomic half-life and the decay constant.
The laboratory portion of the course allows students to experiment with Newton’s laws;observe relationship between forces and acceleration; solve energy related problems; calculate, apply and interpret currents, potentials, resistances, and electromotive forces.
