MA Human Resource Management

College Lane Campus

The main site of the university remains the College Lane campus, which houses the original Hatfield Technical College building. Notable among the buildings in this campus is the university's Learning Resource Centre, a combined library and computer centre. There is also a substantial collection of halls of residence and student houses, and the University of Hertfordshire Students' Union is headquartered at College Lane campus. The College Lane campus is also the location of Hertfordshire International College, which is part of the Navitas group, providing a direct pathway for international students to the University.

Entry requirements

  • An honours degree with classification 2.2 or better in any subject from a UK university or the equivalent from a recognised university overseas.

or

  • Evidence of two or more years relevant work experience in human resource management, industrial relations, managing people, equal opportunities work, or as a trade union official or representative and two or more appropriate references. Or other appropriate experience as determined by the Programme Tutor and two or more appropriate references.

N.B. There is no guarantee that any or all applicants who meet the criteria will be accepted. In addition, all students must produce evidence of their English Language proficiency. 

N.B. Prospective students must be aware that this is not an entry-level programme. It is designed for practitioners who are preparing themselves to move up to middle and senior management positions in their chosen careers and who concurrently want to achieve Chartered professional status through the CIPD. People wanting to make a career move to HRM from another area of professional work should ideally have experience of managing staff. All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency. The following qualifications and grades will be considered:

  • GCSE English language grade A-C
  • IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 5.5 in any band)

Other English language tests are accepted.

Postgraduate taught

  • Completion of a Bachelor degree in a relevant subject area with 55-65% or above depending on course
  • IELTS 6.0 or 6.5 (depends on course) with no less than 5.5 in any band - some courses require higher
  • Standard XII English with 70% will also be accepted
