MSc Finance and Investment Banking with Placement Year

You can now combine this specialist's Masters with a year-long placement. The work placement opportunity gives you a practical perspective on your academic studies and enables you to increase greatly your skillset for a wide range of finance and investment banking careers. The program also echoes the esteemed Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA®) level 1 and 2 examinations.

Specific careers that may be appropriate include a range of investment banking roles (e.g. financial analyst, investment manager, securities’ analyst, and portfolio manager) as well as roles within financial departments of corporations/organizations (e.g. treasury, financial control, risk analysis, etc.). Campus Information

College Lane Campus

The main site of the university remains the College Lane campus, which houses the original Hatfield Technical College building. Notable among the buildings in this campus is the university's Learning Resource Centre, a combined library and computer centre. There is also a substantial collection of halls of residence and student houses, and the University of Hertfordshire Students' Union is headquartered at College Lane campus. The College Lane campus is also the location of Hertfordshire International College, which is part of the Navitas group, providing a direct pathway for international students to the University.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Entry requirements

The normal entry requirements for the programme are:

  • An honours degree (at least 2:2 or equivalent) in the field of economics, finance, banking, accounting, business studies, science, engineering, mathematics, or
  • A suitable professional qualification (including ACCA, CIMA CIPFA, CFA, ICAEW, ICS), or
  • Other appropriate qualifications/experience to be assessed by the Programme Leader and Admissions Tutor.

Postgraduate taught

  • Completion of a Bachelor degree in a relevant subject area with 55-65% or above depending on course
  • IELTS 6.0 or 6.5 (depends on course) with no less than 5.5 in any band - some courses require higher
  • Standard XII English with 70% will also be accepted
