The computer games industry requires individuals with a high level of practical skills, technical knowledge and experience, and our BSc Games Technology degree creates graduates who are steering their careers towards being a Technical Artist, a highly sought-after role in the industry.

Founded on the principles of User-Centred Design (UCD) and Human Computer Interaction (HCI), this course can put you at the forefront of new gaming technology as you learn how to consider the user throughout each stage of the game design and development process.

You’ll learn how to establish, iterate and refine outcomes through investigative methods, including prototyping and usability testing as well as contextual enquiry and ethnographic study.

And, as this course sits alongside the established and highly regarded BA (Hons) Games Arts degree you’ll have plenty of opportunities to collaborate in making game prototypes together and take part in Game Jams with your peers, mirroring idea and team development within the games industry.

Facilities at our Farnham campus are first-class, with the very latest Alienware Aurora towers, 4k dual screens, RTX 2080 graphics cards, exploring game concepts using Unity and Unreal games engines. Later, you’ll be able to test your games on the very latest Dev Kits, including those from Sony PlayStation via Sony PlayStation First Academic Development programme.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Academic requirements:

For our International Foundation in Art, Design and Media, we usually require that you have:

Indian HSC/Standard XII with an overall average of 50% or higher (all boards including CBSE and CISCE).

For our Bachelor's courses, we usually require that you have:

Indian HSC/Standard XII with an overall average of 60.

For our Master's courses, we usually require that you have:

Successful completion of your Bachelor's degree from a recognised university

For the Master of Architecture (MArch), we require the equivalent of a UK 2:1 Honours degree in Architecture. The exact grade required will be confirmed at the time of application

Indian Standard XII from CBSE or ISC national boards:

60% or above for English for Creative Arts

65% or above for GDAD, UCAIC UG Stage 0

70% or above for undergraduate, UCAIC PG Stage 0 and postgraduate direct entry

75% or above for MBA

When you apply for a student route visa, you need to take a test recognised by the Home Office, to prove your English language ability – this is called a Secure English Language Test.

The SELT is only valid for two years, so if you have taken it before you applied to UCA, please make sure it is still in date.

If you need a Tier 4 visa, you do not need to take a SELT if one of the following applies:

you have taken one of the accepted tests listed below within two years of your start date.

you are a national of a majority English speaking country, as defined by the UKVI, and have taken your academic qualifications in that country.

You have successfully completed a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent), or 2 years' degree study from a recognised university (according to UK ENIC) in one of the majority English speaking countries, as defined by the UKVI, within the last two years.

You have successfully completed a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent), or 2 years' degree study from a recognised university (according to UK ENIC), where the Method of Instruction was entirely in English (teaching and assessment), subject to UCA approval.
