Creative Computing BSc (Hons)
Our BSc (Hons) Creative Computing course will enable you to create and shape the world around you through code and digital technologies, for careers in a whole range of spheres, from working in architectural design, at TV studios, in gaming and app design, and more.
This project-based course encourages learning through making, meaning you’ll develop your skills and understanding of coding languages, design tools and the interactive arts, using a unique blend of cutting-edge digital research and practical applications through 3D printing, CNC, laser cutting and electronics.
Thanks to the nature of the course, the first two years are spent exploring and experimenting as you learn to master an array of coding languages and development environments, as well as the key electronic tools and equipment for developing physical computing-based interactive experiences. Your first two years build towards your strongest work for your third-year final project.
Together with your practical learning, you’ll gain an understanding of the designer’s role in society and learn how creative computing can work as a catalyst for change in one of the fastest growing sectors of the global economy.
Employers often comment on the breadth of skills UCA graduates offer – you’ll be working alongside artists, architects and coders to develop a great balance of rigour, expertise and imagination. You’ll be able to critically evaluate and learn the secret to great design, preparing you for career opportunities in fields such as interaction and experience design, as well as broader digital entertainment, internet-of-things, and software development.
The course runs as part of our School of Architecture, so you’ll benefit from our teaching staff’s broad knowledge and experience in making, fabricating and spatial thinking, and it also has a growing network of high-profile industry links, giving you the opportunity to learn from and work with some of the biggest experts in the industry.
