Business Management (Finance) (Top-up) BA Honours

Overview
Upskilling your career

This course is aimed at ambitious students who want to broaden their career options with our one-year business management top-up course with a specialism in finance. Upon graduation you’ll be well placed to enter banking and finance in a wide range of businesses, government and third sector organisations.

You’ll work in our Financial Markets Lab, where you’ll have industry standard access to Bloomberg and Datastream financial software. You’ll also have access to cutting-edge business resources including the Chartered Management Institute’s Management Direct Resource Hub.

You'll use London stock exchange data for listed companies in order to form portfolios. You'll calculate its expected return, comparing with the market including the identification of over and under priced companies.

Building your financial skills
You’ll build your skills in a live financial environment. You’ll also have real-time news updates which show the reflection of stock prices and how they are influenced, as well as identifying efficient markets.

You’ll use workshops, simulations, role-play and case study analyses to hone your business management skills. As part of group projects, you'll solve financial problems and present solutions as part of a report.

Our personalised approach gives you the support you need to succeed as a student. While you're an undergraduate or foundation year student, you’ll have a Personal Tutor directly related to your course. If you need support with academic writing, numeracy and library skills, we’ll be sure to provide it. Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

We accept the equivalent of the below qualifications from a recognised overseas qualification.

  • 240 UG credits in a Finance/Business degree based degree/HND
  • GCSE English and Maths with a minimum of Grade C are required
  • Applications from mature candidates without formal qualifications are welcomed provided they can demonstrate appropriate levels of relevant ability and experience
