Diploma of Higher Education in Leather Technology
This one-year course is the natural progression from our Leathersellers’ Certificate. The knowledge and experience you will gain from this course will allow you to find work in the leather industry at various stages of the leather supply chain or progress further to the top-up year to complete a bachelor’s degree. You will study the practical elements of leather science, underpinned by essential theory.
The course is mostly practical and you will spend much of your time working in the tannery or laboratories. The practical work helps you to learn all the skills you need by developing an in-depth understanding of the manufacturing process as well as the properties of leather. Half of the course is made up of compulsory modules, allowing you to specialise your studies in the other half.

Waterside Campus
In the summer of 2018 the University of Northampton moved to the brand-new Waterside Campus. This seven-year project saw a neglected brownfield site transformed into a successful and impressive new campus that facilitated a radical re-engineering of the University in terms of both teaching methodology and governance structures. aterside is a waterfront site of 24 hectares on the edge of the town centre. Its successful completion has turned a derelict site into a leading facility in the higher education sector. The project brief emphasised integration, of the University into the town and local community, and of departments, facilities and teams within the University itself. New pedestrian and road bridges and cycle routes link the site to the town, and public facilities and commercial outlets are part of a Waterside experience which continues beyond the University to local historic buildings and parks.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have CertHE in Leather Technology or an equivalent qualification. Applicants wishing to enter with level 3 qualifications (e.g. A-Levels, BTEC National, etc.) should apply for the Certificate of Higher Education in Leather Technology.
