Engineering HNC
This programme has been designed to provide the flexible option of one or two-year attendance. The modules have been designed to explore the many areas of engineering and give the student a sound understanding of the analytical subjects related to engineering as well looking at the Engineering Industry and developing important skills in Engineering Design. You will undertake individual and group work to enhance your communication, research and presentation skills. You will also explore the use engineering drawing and the production of engineering models and drawings using computer technology. You will also study analysis of the key areas of quality standards sustainability project management and ethics.
This qualification is taught at the University of Northampton Waterside campus and offers full-time (2 days a week – 2 semesters) and part-time (1 day a week, 2 semesters per year) study options.

Waterside Campus
In the summer of 2018 the University of Northampton moved to the brand-new Waterside Campus. This seven-year project saw a neglected brownfield site transformed into a successful and impressive new campus that facilitated a radical re-engineering of the University in terms of both teaching methodology and governance structures. aterside is a waterfront site of 24 hectares on the edge of the town centre. Its successful completion has turned a derelict site into a leading facility in the higher education sector. The project brief emphasised integration, of the University into the town and local community, and of departments, facilities and teams within the University itself. New pedestrian and road bridges and cycle routes link the site to the town, and public facilities and commercial outlets are part of a Waterside experience which continues beyond the University to local historic buildings and parks.

The course is designed to support the Engineering industry by providing highly skilled and motivated individuals that have the opportunity to progress into a broad range of engineering careers. Those without relevant work experience may enter the course with one A-level qualification as well as GCSE Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
