Food & Nutrition

Kingston College of Science initiated Food & Nutrition Honours, which is a 3-year degree course from 2013. Food & Nutrition is a multidisciplinary subject and it can also be referred to as paramedical course with multiple opportunities e.g. hospital dietician, community project work in different NGOs, teaching in schools and colleges and many more to flourish in the career. We have well organised laboratory with improved equipments and well decorated modular kitchen for the purpose of different nutritious recipe preparation. We also have excellent collection of reference books in the library. Good faculties are present here to teach students and guide them to get success in their career. In this course we have added benefit of hospital training facilities, different food industry visit, workshop and training, field visit, health centre visits for our students. A short research project work is also given to the students for the completion of B.Sc degree. There is training and placement cell that grooms the students for the future campussing and also helps them for facing different job interviews. We also arrange different National and International Seminar and conferences here regarding food and technologies for upgrade the knowledge of students. Beside career development of students, there is also a facility of recreation such as indoor and outdoor games. Each and every student is guided equally. Tutorial classes are there for the poor students for their benefit. Some social activities are also done by our students such as health camps are organised in different important days like World Health Day, World Diabetic day.

Faculty of Food & Nutrition Department is well behaved, student friendly and well educated with 5 years of research experience and 8 years of teaching experience in this field. She is gold medallist; NET qualified and has 7 research publications in the international journals and 2 publications in the international conference proceedings. Faculties are always there for the students for support and guidance and also to identify the potentiality of the students and nurture with that for their career improvement. Discipline and etiquettes are also taught to the students for their future prospects.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Passed 10+2 standard or its equivalent examination from any recognised board with at least 45% marks in aggregate.
