Strength and Conditioning, MSc

Explore the role of strength and conditioning as one of the most effective tools to improve health and performance with a Master’s in Strength and Conditioning.

This innovative MSc Strength and Conditioning is the only master's course to cover resistance training for health, performance, injury prevention and applied nutrition together. Students are taught by specialist staff in the Centre for Sports Science and Medicine in Sport and Exercise, with support from internationally recognised visiting professionals. You'll gain subject-specific knowledge, enhanced practical and professional skills, and a critical awareness of advances at the forefront of strength and conditioning studies.

We're accredited by some of the most respected organisations in the field. In particular, the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recognises our master's as a high-quality programme for the NSCA Education Recognition Programme.

Avery Hill Campus

Avery Hill is the ideal setting for students looking to study in London. Not only does it have a campus university vibe with teaching and living space, it is also just 30 minutes by train from central London. Avery Hill Campus comprises two sites: Mansion House and Southwood.

Job Opportunity Potential

What sort of careers do graduates pursue?

You can pursue opportunities in the sports performance and coaching field, or gain positions such as head strength coach, assistant strength coach, strength coach, and sports nutrition advisor. 

You can also gain roles in the health and fitness industry (advanced programmes and services), performance diagnostics-oriented companies, institutions and laboratories, manufacturers of devices, equipment for training, and testing.

Other opportunities include sports nutrition supplements design, oriented research institutions, public authorities, consulting and self-employed businesses, and healthcare companies and institutions.

Are internships available?

You may be able to undertake internships at Medway Hospital, working with the Prehabilitation Unit. The internship is 8-12 weeks, with attendance twice a week (9am-2pm).

This will provide you with a Certificate in Professional Practice and valuable employment experience before you graduate.

Do you provide employability services?

Our services are designed to help you achieve your potential and support your transition towards a rewarding graduate career.

The Employability and Careers Service provides support when you are preparing to apply for placements and graduate roles. It includes CV clinics, mock interviews and employability skills workshops.

Each School also has its own Employability Officer, who works closely with the industry and will provide specific opportunities relevant to your own course.

2 Years PSW is applicable after the course completing (Bachelors level or Master)

 

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

For entry to our Master's programs, you will need to have met the following:

  • Four-year bachelor degree with a minimum of 55% in Final Year (However, if graduating from one of the top universities: Pune, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Osmania, and JNTU a minimum of 50% in the final year is required)
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements
  • Note: More specialized courses require four year bachelor degree with a minimum of 65% in final year.(However, if graduating from one of the top universities :Pune, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Osmania and JNTU a minimum of 60% in final year is required)
