Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting and School Nursing), PGDip

Nurses and midwives with a degree who want to move into health visiting or school nursing can take the first step with this diploma in specialist community public health nursing.

Our one-year course is suited to qualified nurses and midwives who wish to undertake the specialist community public health nursing course at postgraduate level. During the year you will develop the knowledge and skills required to deliver a range of services including prevention, early intervention and safeguarding for children aged 0-19 and their families. Our course leads to a nationally recognised qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council .

We deliver this course in partnership with local community healthcare and service providing organisations. It is intended to meet the needs and expectations of the contemporary public health agenda so you can make a difference to the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate Degrees (Bachelor's)

For entry to our four-year extended degree programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Standard XII with a minimum of 50%
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements

For standard entry to our Bachelor's programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Standard XII with a minimum of 60%(70% for Law, Architecture)
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements

Some Bachelor's degrees allow advanced entry to year 2 or year 3, depending on your study history.

For advanced entry to Year 2 and Year 3 you will need to complete:

Year 1 of a relevant degree with a minimum of 60%
Postgraduate Degrees (Master's)

For entry to our Master's programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Four year bachelor degree with a minimum of 55% in Final Year (However, if graduating from one of the top universities :Pune, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Osmania and JNTU a minimum of 50% in final year is required)
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements

Note: More specialised courses require four year bachelor degree with a minimum of 65% in final year.(However, if graduating from one of the top universities :Pune, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Osmania and JNTU a minimum of 60% in final year is required)
