MUSIC

The study of music is a creative, technical and theoretical exploration of one of the most mysterious art forms. Studying it at Liverpool Hope, will give you the opportunity to investigate the many facets of performing, composing and producing beautiful and challenging music.  You will also be exposed to aspects of the music business and industry, as well as its many historical and theoretical concepts. 

You will have the opportunity to explore the performance and composition of music across a broad range of topics and genres such as popular, classical, jazz and electronic. Your studies will focus on music performance, composition and production – underpinned by historical and theoretical areas of enquiry led by staff with a broad range of teaching, professional and research specialisms. 

Our Music degree is part of our School of Creative & Performing Arts, based at our Creative Campus, and housed in the purpose-built Capstone building. The School is one of only a handful of All-Steinway Music Schools in the UK and, in addition to a Steinway Model D in the Capstone Theatre, we also have a number of sound-proofed bespoke music recording, rehearsal and practice spaces, as well as a number of musical instruments to cater across all musical genres.

PSYCHOLOGY

We provide a number of programmes of study in Psychology. We have three Single Major Undergraduate programmes. These are BSc Psychology, BA Psychology & Education, and BSc Sports Psychology. In addition, we offer 25 Double Major programs*. Double Majors allow students to combine a core curriculum on Psychology with the core curriculum of a second subject. Giving students a choice over what they study is important to us. Choice of programmes allows students to study a course that reflects their prior interests, lived experience, or future goals.

Ethical practice and working within a shared set of values is also important to us; our University is deeply committed to serving the common good. We see Psychology as a discipline with the capacity, and responsibility, to make a positive contribution to how people live in everyday life. Through our teaching of Psychology, we strive to enable our students to grow into constructive citizens who are curious about people, and motivated to make a positive difference to the lives of others. Beyond classroom learning, there are opportunities to enrich your chosen programme of study in a way that will help you in developing your psychological thinking. They include going on a placement, working as a research assistant in a laboratory, travelling to another country as part of Global Hope, or under the Erasmus study abroad scheme.
