Job Opportunity Potential
This practical course will help to expand your mathematical expertise and nurture your logical and analytical thought processes.
Students will also develop mathematical and statistical skills and technical rigour, creating good problem-solving abilities. The course also covers appropriate industry standard software including Excel, Minitab, SAS and MATLAB. You will further develop your professional skills in report writing and presentation skills.
Graduates may pursue careers specific to mathematics, such as mathematical modelling, financial management, pensions, investment and forensic science investigation, or consider a statistics career in data analysis, data mining, data science, customer relationship management or actuarial work. There are also relevant roles in operational research, business and education sectors, which appeal to many Mathematics graduates.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Entry criteria
- A typical offer is 112 UCAS points from at least two A-levels or equivalent, including A-level Mathematics at B or above, or
- Applied Science BTEC National Diploma/Extended Diploma at DMM to include relevant Mathematics modules. In addition to all other BTEC courses, A-level Mathematics at grade B or above will be required
Plus five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Mathematics or equivalent.
Alternative qualifications include:
- Pass Access in the QAA accredited Access to HE Maths course with at least 15 credits in Mathematics at distinction. English and Mathematics GCSE required as a separate qualification as equivalency is not accepted within the Access qualification.
We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course.
International Baccalaureate: 26+ points with Maths at higher level grade 6

We welcome applications from mature students with non-standard qualifications and recognize all other equivalent and international qualifications.
India
- Minimum of 65% average in your four best subjects (excluding Hindi) in Standard 12. We may also check your standard 10 results in English and Maths.
- For Engineering courses, you will need a minimum of 60% in Maths.
