Accounting and Finance BA (Hons)

Studying accounting and finance at DMU provides you with the skills and knowledge to embark on a wide range of careers in accounting and finance. Depending on your module choices, you could also gain significant exemptions from a range of professional bodies to give you a head start in your career.

On the course, you will develop core accounting knowledge and skills alongside contemporary issues such as ethical decision-making and sustainability. You will also have the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge by choosing from one of our optional modules in your final year: Audit and Forensic Accounting or Contemporary Issues in Accounting. Your learning will be complimented by visiting sessions from industry speakers, work placements and networking events.

In our newly refurbished Trading Floor, you’ll have opportunities to put learning into practice. The Trading Floor is equipped with industry-standard software, including Bloomberg and LSEG Workspace, which are used by leading business, financial and government decisions makers and media professionals around the globe. Our close links with employers and professional accounting bodies will give you opportunities to enhance your career prospects. You could gain up to the maximum of nine exemptions from ACCA exams if you choose the appropriate modules and be exempt from up to the first eight exams with CIMA - a great start towards gaining your professional qualification and developing a wealth of industry knowledge to kick-start your career.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Entry criteria

  • A typical offer is 112 UCAS points from at least two A-Levels, or
  • BTEC National Diploma/Extended Diploma at DMM

Plus, five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Mathematics or equivalent

Alternative qualifications include:

  • Pass Access with 30 Level 3 credits at Merit (or equivalent) with English (Language or Literature) and Maths GCSE required as separate qualifications at grade 4

We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course

  • International Baccalaureate: 26+ Points.

FOR INDIA

  • Minimum of 65% average in your four best subjects (excluding Hindi) in Standard 12. We may also check your standard 10 results in English and Maths.

2nd year - 3rd-year Undergraduate:

  • Entry to year 2 or 3 may be possible. You will need to supply detailed information including courses taken, grades achieved, syllabus, and a grading guide.

FOR SRI LANKA

  • 55-65% in three A-levels, depending on the course you choose.

  • A-levels or a recognized Foundation Course

FOR NEPAL

  • A-levels or a recognised Foundation course.
  • Students with 75% and above in HSC (+2) may be considered for direct entry to an undergraduate course.
  • Some courses have additional entry criteria such as a portfolio, an audition, or require a student to have a particular qualification.
