BA (Hons) Social Media Management

Almost every employer, from Nike to Netflix, has a social media presence. Develop the skills and experience you need to meet the growing demand for social media managers across a wide range of industries.

Learn about content creation, social strategy and tactics, analytics and attribution, public relations, media law, data analysis and visualisation and digital and social media theory.

Get time to experiment with your own social media channels, build your own digital communities, and develop your own social media project in the final year. Explore optional modules in marketing, podcasting, journalism, fashion styling, radio and TV production and more.

Work with real clients to develop social media and PR campaigns and strategies and get work experience placements during your degree.

Graduate with an extra qualification in Media Law accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ); and the skills, knowledge and experience employers are looking for across a range of social media, content and communications roles. Or apply your new found skills and experience to launch and build your own social media channels or business.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

To study for a University of Sunderland degree you need to meet the course entry requirements.

If English is not your first language you should have at least one of the following qualification (or equivalent) as a minimum:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Generally, the course requirements will be a minimum score of 6.0, with at least 5.5 or higher in each component: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
Any score above 180.

Cambridge Certification in Advanced English (CAE)
No score lower than 170.

O-Level English Language or GCSE English Language
You need grade C or above (UK Exam board).

Malaysian SPM 119
You need grade 6 or above (only grades 1, 2 or 3 are acceptable for Law).

Degree or HND taught in English for Postgraduate students
Proof of qualification is required.

Trinity Integrated Skills in English (ISE) II
You need Merit or Distinction.
