Enrol in our community services course and develop the knowledge and skills to work with individuals, families, social groups or larger communities to support activities, information and referral for people in need of assistance in our communities.
If you aspire to operate at an advanced skill level or have responsibility for the supervision of other staff and volunteers, this community services course is for you. You’ll be ready to work as a community services professional in a range of service delivery roles including direct client work, community education or community development projects. You’ll understand how to provide support to people in need of assistance and how to link clients to appropriate services and government departments.

Located 14 kilometres east of Melbourne City, this campus has two locations, each named after the roads they are on – Elgar and Nelson.
Lilydale Campus - John St
The Box Hill Institute John St building is part of the Lilydale Lakeside campus. It’s where we teach our trades courses in Lilydale and also where the Adult Migrant English Program is delivered.
Box Hill
Box Hill Institute offers courses that are delivered through blended learning as a combination of on-campus (face-to-face) and online study. Courses delivered through blended learning involve attending remote classes run through a range of specific industry platforms and require you to work unsupervised on your coursework.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
International students must have:
- successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or international equivalent with a pass, or
- a relevant Certificate IV in Youth Work or Community Services level qualification, and/or
- significant relevant industry experience to be deemed capable to successfully complete the course
Working with Children Checks and Police Record Checks are a requirement for industry work placement.
If you are an inbound international student, you may apply for the Bachelor of Community Services with this course as a package offer.
PLEASE NOTE: Box Hill Institute only accept enrolments from international students who are 18 years of age or above at the time of course commencement.
A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic) with no band less than 5.0. A minimum TOEFL score of 530 for paper examination; 179 for computer based and 71 for Internet based, or approved equivalent.
