Biology is the study of life as it has evolved and is evolving on earth. All aspects of life are examined, from molecular processes inside cells, to large scale ecological interactions between organisms in their environment, and how the changing environment shapes these interactions.

The number of different course offerings and diverse array of research conducted by faculty members makes the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Manitoba unique in Manitoba. Local, national and international collaborations by faculty members in the Department of Biological Sciences provides an integrated and relevant approach to world problems today. The breadth in research expertise provides teaching excellence in areas of biological science including gene regulation and development, microscopy, evolution, environmental physiology, animal behaviour, food web dynamics, invertebrate biology and population ecology. The Biological Science program at the University of Manitoba allows students to specialize in Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology; Environmental and Integrative Physiology; Evolution and Biodiversity; and Ecology and Environmental Biology and the unique integrative theme allows students to utilize courses in both Biological Sciences and Microbiology.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

An equivalent minimum average of 85% over the following senior level courses,with no less than 60% in each course:
