Graduate Certificate of Business Information Systems
The Graduate Certificate of Business Information Systems has been designed to provide students with an understanding of the use and management of information systems in organisations. The course offers students the knowledge and skills required to work as an analyst in this field. Students learn about the underpinnings of information systems, including studies in business analysis, IT project management and enterprise information management, requirements analysis, database design and professional issues. They also learn how to approach organisational problems from a broader interdisciplinary perspective.
Course description
The Graduate Certificate of Business Information Systems has been designed to provide a fundamental overview of the use and management of information systems in organisations together with a high level overview of the systems and some of the key knowledge and skills required to work as an analyst in this area. It provides an entry point for professionals with an undergraduate degree in IS/IT or reasonable practical experience, to commence with broad based study of IS management, business analysis, IT project management and enterprise information management.
This course provides a foundation for the Graduate Diploma and Masters level in which students can pursue specialisations in business analysis, IT project management or enterprise information management, as well as study of professional issues in the IT industry. On successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Business Information Systems, students may progress to the Graduate Diploma of Business Information Systems or the Master of Business Information Systems, and will be given full credit for the units completed.
The Graduate Certificate of Business Information Systems forms the first stage in a nested suite of programs consisting of:
- Graduate Certificate of Business Information Systems (GC-BIS)
- Graduate Diploma of Business Information Systems (GD-BIS) ^
- Master of Business Information Systems
^ Students are unable to enrol directly into the Graduate Diploma however it is available as an exit award. (Not available by Admission)
