As a podiatrist, you can choose to work as an independent practitioner or as part of a multidisciplinary team with other health professionals.

Lead primary healthcare

Promote health and wellbeing through disease and injury prevention. Work with people of all ages to treat and manage issues affecting their feet and legs, to enable mobility and independence.

Work in public and private hospitals

Take your skills into the hospital environment and work as part of a team to improve foot health for people with diabetes.

Explore roles in private health practices, sports clinics and community health centres

Specialise in a number of areas, ranging from general and paediatric care to biomechanics, sports medicine and injury management, Indigenous health, high-risk foot care (including diabetes management) and surgery.

PSW Opportunity

Sydney / Melbourne / Brisbane: 

Regular 2 years post study work visa for international students completing Bachelors and Masters degrees (minimum 92 weeks), 3 years for Masters by Research and 4 years for PhD. graduates 

Other Locations (Regional centres and other regional areas):

International students studying at regional universities will be eligible to access an additional
2 years in Australia on a post-study work visa
(Which means a Bachelors or Masters graduate can get up to 4 years of PSW visa) 

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • A completed High School Certificate with an ATAR of 65 (including adjustment factors) or equivalent.
    OR
  • Successful completion of two university level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
    OR
  • A completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification.
    OR
  • 50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification.
    OR
  • A completed Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
