Master in Sport Management (MSM)

AT FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON UNIVERSITY, we are committed to helping Sport Management professionals take their careers to the next level. Throughout our Master in Sport Management (MSM) program, you will learn the theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline, with an emphasis on leadership. By working closely with our talented faculty, you will have an active learning experience and gain unparalleled practice in professional settings.

A MULTIFACETED EDUCATION

The MSM program is a 36-credit, on-campus and online graduate program conducted through the International School of Hospitality, Sports, and Tourism Management. The program focuses on practical and theoretical aspects as they relate to the administration and management of sports personnel and facilities, recreation and fitness programs and businesses, health facilities, coaching and recreational activities. In addition, the program encourages the development of high-quality applied research for practitioners in the field. The degree is particularly suited for working adults who are interested in enhancing their credentials. The MSM degree offers concentrations in Sport Management and Coaching Theory and Strategies. Students who complete five courses in a particular area of concentration will be awarded a certificate that signifies completion of that course of study. We have a third concentration in High School Athletic Director. This concentration is only available to N.J.-certified teachers. Students have the ability to take courses in a specialization that focuses on their specific areas of responsibility. Our study abroad course provides students the opportunity to stay at our Wroxton campus for eight days. Students will explore sports from a global perspective, traveling to sport venues and meeting professionals in the field. Students will gain insight and understanding about international sport business.

If your program was less than 8 months

  •    You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.

If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.

For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.

If your program was 2 years or more

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.

If you completed more than 1 program

  •    You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.

Each of the programs you completed -

  • must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • APPLICANTS FROM INDIAN UNIVERSITIES: We require individual semester-wise marksheets and supplementary marksheets indicating all backlogs, retakes, attempts, and failures. If you cannot provide all marksheets, you must submit an Attempts Certificate from your university that indicates your total number of failures.
  • Applicants with the equivalent of a three-year bachelor’s degree.
  • The GRE is required for most Graduate majors.
    Neither the GMAT nor GRE is required for:
    • MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
    • MA in Communications
    • MA in Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language (TESL/TEFL)
    • MHMS Master of Hospitality Management Studies
    • MPA Public Administration
  • Detailing all professional and academic activities undertaken during and after graduation through the present (if required by the program).
