Youth and Teen Film Camps at NYFA in Australia
At NYFA Australia’s youth and teen Film camps, students learn how to create their own films and tell engaging stories through a balance of short projects, time spent on sets, and coursework. Designed for students ages 13-17, the camps give aspiring visual storytellers the opportunity to write, shoot, direct, and edit their own short films which can also be used on social media.
Throughout the programs, students work in collaboration with their peers and use tools and technology used by industry professionals, giving them the framework to build creative and technical skills. From learning and working on films at the purpose-built Southport campus to shooting film projects on the backlot at Warner Bros. Movie World, the filmmaking teen camps are dynamic experiences that allow students to explore their unique creative voices, and build their confidence while having fun and making friends with like-minded classmates. No experience in filmmaking is required to attend.
1-WEEK FILMMAKING CAMP
The 1-Week Filmmaking Camp provides students with an introduction to filmmaking and content creation. In just a week, students create a short film from start to finish, learning how to write, shoot, direct, and edit their own unique content. Students learn each step of the filmmaking process, such as:
- Screenwriting:How to generate story ideas and format a final script
- Directing: The responsibilities of a director, such as how to make a Director’s Plan with shot sizes and storyboards
- Cinematography: Shot composition, movement, and basic lighting
- Editing: How to edit a short film using industry software
- Post Production: Sound design with music, SFX, and Atmos, as well as how to export and save film projects
Filmmaking and Acting for Film students are invited to bring a USB 3.0 flash drive with at least 16GB storage capacity to transfer their edited films. Students may take the 1-Week Filmmaking Camp for Teens and 1-Week Acting for Film Camp back-to-back.
3-WEEK FILMMAKING CAMP
In the 3-Week Filmmaking Camp, students learn how to make short films and original content. During the program, students will write, direct, and edit a range of short films and exercises. Through these hands-on projects and coursework, students learn and practice the filmmaking

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Students must be 13-17 years and may or may not be in high school. Students must meet the following criteria to attend:
- Must be AT LEAST 13 years old on the first day of the teen camp
- Must be UNDER THE AGE OF 18 on the first day of the teen camp
- Cannot attend if you are in high school but under the age of 13 or have already turned 18 years old as of the first day of the teen camp
