Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT)
VIT was established in 1984 as a self-financing institution called the ‘Vellore Engineering College’ with 180 students. Since then the institution has grown from strength to strength. VIT today is a home to over 39000 students from 52 countries and from every state of India, one third of whom are women. VIT is the first university in India to get 4-STAR rating from QS, the international ranking agency. Besides being ranked consistently in the TOP 20 institutions in India by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of Government of India since 2016, recently VIT entered the prestigious QS World University Ranking by Subject for the first time. VIT has got rank in three subjects in the first year of participation itself as below:
